About Trevor’s creative practice
I am 75 years old, and I become a member of the Tongala Lions Street Art group in 2024. I returned to doing my artwork after a hiatus of approximately 40 years.
I am a lover of basic pencil art. I primarily use Derwent watercolour and pastel pencils, also Faber Castell polychromos pencils.
Returning to art after such a long break has been a huge learning curve for me. Years ago, my work was acrylic, watercolour and oil painting, but I find now that pencils are my medium of choice.
I have been drawn to animal portraiture as I am a huge animal lover. You can see different personalities in each animal you choose to portray. I’m still in the learning process of trying to remember values, shading, perspective and so on. I think I learn something new from each piece I attempt – I had missed this so much over the years.
I’m not trying to impress people with what I produce – it’s more about bringing happiness to those who wish to look at my work.
