Basket making ticks all the boxes of my creative spirit. The joy I get from reducing a pile of found or selected sticks and fibre into a basket, is so satisfying.

The gathering process is the start of the finished vessel. I am drawn to the feel, texture, colour and smell of the fibres I collect for my stash. I find the possibilities come to light once I begin to prepare the fibre and start to move it through my hands.

The rhythm of basketry is very therapeutic for me whether it is weaving, twining, coiling or stitching.

My work can be either functional or decorative so long as it pleases my senses. Basket making is often a treasured group experience.
